EPEX provides comprehensive management of the energy procurement process. That means more than simply issuing a bid request and selecting the lowest bidder. Indeed, EPEX develops an all-encompassing procurement strategy. It’s a multi-step process that simplifies the difficult decision of choosing the right energy supplier and product at the right price:
The first step in our comprehensive strategy is identifying and understanding the procurement and budgetary objectives of our clients. This includes the creation of an electronic database from which to review the client’s energy usage and cost history. Based on this information — coupled with the client’s goals — we have the groundwork for developing a procurement strategy.
Once we identify and understand the procurement goals of our clients, we continually evaluate the wholesale energy markets and advise our clients of favorable times to purchase. Utilizing our proprietary bid analysis model and risk continuum matrix, we can mitigate the risk of market price volatility and eliminate unexpected surprises.
When the market presents an opportunity, EPEX develops and administers a formal energy supply bid request, used to solicit competitive bids from the suppliers we recommend. We screen all bids, qualify the financial stability of suppliers and provide our clients with analysis and recommendations. The ultimate goal, of course, is to identify the lowest-cost reliable supplier. Once a supplier has been selected, we negotiate and construct favorable contract terms.
Even after a contract is in place, EPEX continues to work in the best interests of our clients. We perform a monthly review and verification of the accuracy of supplier and utility bills; develop new or refined energy budgets, if needed; and provide energy reports showing the performance of the contract.
